As a health coach, I practice a holistic approach to nutrition and healthy living, as we work together you will discover how all the parts of your life affect the health and well-being of your whole self. For example, does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising or preparing healthy meals for you and your family? Unlike the USDA pyramid, the Integrative Nutrition Pyramid depicts a balanced approach to nutrition and healthy living: more high-quality, organic vegetables, fruits, complex carbohydrates, protein and water; less milk, sugar and artificial processed foods. As you can see my pyramid is surrounded with the primary food circle, all the parts of life that satisfy our hunger for living and create a balanced life. Living a life of balance nurtures a lifetime of good health and happiness.

No one diet works for everyone…

The concept of bio-individuality is that each person has their own nutritional needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why “diets” don’t work in the long run. Examining your age, health, genetics, activity level, blood type, metabolic rate and personal preferences will determine your dietary needs. You know your body better than anyone else — better than any health expert or doctor on the plant. As your health coach, I will help facilitate mindful eating and improved body awareness. Many of my clients have an increase body awareness within two weeks of working with me. Remember, the human body evolved over thousands and thousand of years with only one goal; to survive. Our bodies are always striving to be healthy, reproduce, and survive. Amazingly if you tune in and listen your body it will tell you exactly what it needs to be healthy and well.

Everything is food…

Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity and a spiritual practice are essential forms of nourishment. Primary foods feed us on many levels, but they don’t come on a plate. When your “primary foods” are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary. The more primary food we receive, the less is our dependency on “secondary foods”. The opposite is also true. The more we fill ourselves with “secondary foods”, the less we are able to receive the “primary foods” of life. As we work together you will discover what you are truly hungry for in life. While working with you, we will deconstruct your food cravings and explore the connection between your secondary foods and your primary mood.
